Fun and Entertaining (2008-11-05)
After playing the demo on Xbox Live and getting hooked, I had to purchase this game. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is addictive fun. I can't compare it to the movie because I have not seen it yet, but I enjoyed playing this game thoroughly from batting goblins to death to painting the fairies to running through the house and yard collecting stuff. This is coming from a mom of a 10 year old. I got hooked before my daugher did. Very cute, fun and entertaining game and now with the game marked down to $10 why not try it out? I paid full price for this game and still thought it was worth every penny.
Loved it! (2008-07-18)
I enjoyed the game, but that's my personal preference! Other games I have enjoyed are the Shrek games and Ms Pac Man Maze Madness (on PS2), if that gives you a guideline. I enjoy games with "quests" and storylines. This one probably could have been a little harder OR taken a little longer to conquer. However, I thought overall it was fun! It might be a little tough for younger kids but then again they are probably much better at it than I am! There was just a lot of remembering where you needed to go (IE: to the forest, to the rock quarry, etc) to find things or complete quests. But like I said, I'm sure they are just better than I am!
Better then you think (2008-03-16)
Don't let the title fool you, this is a perfect game for someone 8-14. Even mom and dad can enjoy this one. The 5 stars would be 2-3 if for anoyone over the age of 13, but my son loves it.
There is NO cooperative play (2008-02-24)
This is not a full review of this movie-based game. I bought it today in order to play along with my son, who enjoyed the books and movie. The box advertises that the game is for 1-2 players, and specifically says that there is cooperative play for 2 players.
This is not true; according to what I've read in the manual, and from reviews elsewhere, the *only* multiplayer component in the game is a competitive "catch the most sprites" minigame that is unlocked as you complete the various levels. I don't want to be a stickler, but "cooperative" is not the same thing as "competitive," and to my mind, when a game advertises itself as having cooperative play, that means that you can play through the story with a friend.
My son seems to be enjoying the game so far, though from what I've seen I doubt it will last. The game isn't particularly good looking visually, and there doesn't seem to be much going on. Though I should point out that I've only seen the first couple of levels/chapters.
My "starred" review is based on the clearly false statement on the box re: cooperative play, and as I said is not intended as a review of the game as a whole.
