One of the best video game systems EVER! (2008-10-22)
Everyone should get of these game systems, it's a great way to get the whole family to play.
LOVED IT!!! (2008-10-21)
The Wii rocks! It gets you up off the couch and keeps you moving!! It's fun and competitive and it's something every single member of the family can enjoy!! Love it!!
A stunning advance in the state of the art (2008-10-20)
I live in Thailand, and had been curious about the Wii for a couple of years. Then (suddenly) I actually saw one for sale in Chiang Mai. I thought about it overnight, and went and snapped it right up, along with a second controller and Wii Fit.
My basic reaction is that the Wii has advanced the computer-game experience by a huge amount. If Sony and Microsoft don't come out with copycats, THEY ARE DOOMED. I don't think anyone will want to go back to the old game controllers.
Another really important reaction is that the Wii is FUN. I've had my Wii for two whole days and there are already three characters (Miis) running around in it. And everyone who has touched it thinks that it is FUN!!
The third point is that there is this Wii Fit thing (the balance board). It really works great, and for the moment I am a convert. I think that if I add Wii Fit to my daily swim, I might actually get more fit. I hope so! :-0 I'm 62, and the Wii tells me I'm 75!! HEELPPP!!
So, tomorrow I return for a little more heading of soccer balls, and ski slalom racing, and ski jumps, and table balancing.
I VANT TO IMPROVE!!!!!
Addicted (2008-10-20)
We have this system for over few months now, and I do have to admit, it just never gets boring. It is not only fun, but also "healthy" activity after heavy family meals. Although we do have 5 different game discs, we all always end up playing Sports game and we love it. Best part is to see 56 yr women compete against 13 yr teenager and everyone else enjoying it.
Some other comments: set up was very easy, including wi-fi connection ( we do have Linksys wireless router and recognized it right away), cables in to TV and up go. I love the fact that we could order some Mario games from older versions ( although we have not played it yet) via internet store.
I am not sure if this is system for high profile gamers, but Wii exceeds all expectations in our house, when looking for gaming system to have fun, be healthy and be appealing to everyone ages 6-66. Thanks to the online store ( accessible from Wii console via wireless router) one can never run out of games to play or can buy different channels for fun and more info.
I was hard-core PS2 fan, my mom loved her Mario SNES, and after trying PS3 and being amazed by it's graphics and games, I realized that I can, personally, play my kind of games on laptop. Our Samsung TV is already wirelessly/via DNLA set up for media streaming from my computer, so I didn't need media center. Sure, blue-ray DVD player was added benefit of PS3, but ever since we have this system, we barely watch movies, and HD DVD player will be useful for some time.
This is definitely system for whole family and good entertainment for any gathering. And for those easily bored, internet stores and wide variety of games on disc and accessories, sure are leaving plenty of options to find something new all the time. And plenty of options to give as gift to someone who has everything else (including Wii system).
Best home system for your family (2008-10-18)
If you are one of the few people lucky enough to find this item, then you are privileged enough to own one of the best video gaming systems, ever.
With 4 infrared remotes, the entire family or group of friends can compete in a fun atmosphere. Although the graphics are not high definition, the interface for gaming is where this excels.
The accompanying game disk, Wii Sports, is by far the most thrilling of the games. It includes Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and Boxing. The simple interface and lifelike interactions can keep you gaming for hours. From bowling to Golf to boxing, you can simulate the actual actions of the sport.
In addition to gaming possibilities, I have hooked mine up to my wireless network, to quickly check weather and the news.
The set up of the system is rather easy for something with so many peripherals. Extra controllers need to be synced with your system.
My minor gripe is the infrared detecting device has fallen off of the flatscreen TV, many times.
Internal memory allows many game saves without us having to resort to accessory memory.
I have considered other gaming systems such as the Playstation 3 and the XBOX 360 but so many games oriented towards my daughter (age appropriate), I feel like I made the best choice.
